Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style

A Mysore practice grows with you. Rather than trying to achieve everything at once, you build your practice gradually, developing strength, mobility, focus, and a deeper understanding of your body over time.

The self-paced nature of the practice creates space to observe yourself: how you respond to challenges, where you hold tension, when you push too hard, and when you need to step back. With consistency, you begin to recognize patterns that go beyond the physical practice and learn to approach them with greater awareness.

Practicing alongside others adds another dimension. Everyone follows their own path, yet you share the same space, the same early mornings, and the commitment to keep showing up. Over time, this creates a supportive community where people can practice independently while still feeling part of something share

Mantras

Opening Mantra:

Vande Gurūṇāṁ Caraṇāravinde Sandarśita Svātma Sukhāva Bodhe Niḥśreyase Jāṅgalikāyamāne Saṁsāra Hālāhala Mohaśāntyai

Ābāhu Puruṣākāraṁ Śaṅkha Cakrāsi Dhāriṇam Sahasra Śirasaṁ Śvetaṁ Praṇamāmi Patañjalim

English translation

I bow to the lotus feet of the teachers, which awaken insight into the happiness of the true Self, which act as the physician in the jungle, bringing relief from the poison of conditioned existence.

I bow to Patañjali, who has a human form above the shoulders, holds a conch, a discus, and a sword, and is crowned by a thousand radiant white heads.

Closing Mantra:

Svasti Prajābhyaḥ Paripālayantāṁ Nyāyena Mārgeṇa Mahīṁ Mahīśāḥ Go Brāhmaṇebhyaḥ Śubham Astu Nityaṁ Lokāḥ Samastāḥ Sukhino Bhavantu

Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ

English translation

May all be well with humanity. May leaders protect the earth through just and righteous means. May there be well-being for animals and all people. May all beings everywhere be happy and free.
